Our current school value is ‘Tolerance’!!!
So far, the fruits for this term have been Strawberry, Mango and Satsuma.
Ewelme School is such a happy place to be. I continue to see enjoyment in learning and liveliness in all the classes. Only yesterday Class 2 were developing their understanding of fractions with a game outside on the playground.
A few weeks ago a group of students from Henley College ran a Sponsored Bounce for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The children had a lot of fun on the field with space hoppers and raised over £850 in one morning. Amazing!
On attending the introduction to the Village Plan at the Village Hall on Monday 30th April, I was struck by the fact that a lot of the suggestions raised were similar to ideas within the school’s development plans. It will be great to ‘join up’ this thinking and make progress in the areas that matter to us all.
With this in mind, the school and Ewelme Trust are making great progress towards gaining appropriate use of the School House. As you know, this change will have no visible impact on the buildings but will give us great potential to serve the community, while increasing the capacity for pupil academic success.
We are still offering a huge range of clubs to the children, from Cricket to Finger Spelling (Sign Language). Last week one child who doesn’t attend the Finger Spelling club said to me; “I really don’t like that Finger Spelling club.” I was shocked and asked why not. “Because they are always using it to talk to each other privately!”
Thanks to all staff and parents who make these clubs possible. Please watch this space for even more enhancement to club activity after the SATs week (mid May). Furthermore, if you have any skills to offer as a club between 3:30 and 4:30, get in touch!
Please remember that there is a school website which has up-to-date information about all aspects of the school (www.ewelme.oxon.sch.uk) and I am always available by appointment to talk to anyone from our community regarding the school. Come to visit; if you think you know all about the school already, you might be surprised!
